I had a terrible experience with ReMax Results. Specifically, with Lamar Watson and to a lesser extent, his supervisor, Victoria Blass. Long story short, my roommate and I put in an application to rent a home. Upon viewing the home and lease, Lamar did not respond to any emails or text messages regarding the questions we had. Together, my roommate and I had already spent $100 for the application fee, put a $100 deposit down for movers, and set up the power to be turned on for our move in date. Everything had been set and been explained through email/text to Lamar with no response. After a week, still no response.  So I called the ReMax Results office and explained the situation. I was told Lamar would get back to me. He got back to me only 1 DAY before the scheduled lease signing. His email stated that the owner does not want our pet fancy rats (which are my Emotional Support Animals or Therapy Animals) on the property and if we intend on keeping them, they would not move forward with the lease. I responded by sending the letter of authentication for my ESA from my therapist and her direct supervisor, a psychologist. At this time I also noticed the house listing was already put back on Zillow. Of course, neither my roommate or I got any response back from Lamar in regards to our email the therapy animal document. After about a week, we were able to get in contact with Victoria Blass, his supervisor. After explaining the situation, she seemed quite on board and said she would speak to Lamar. Then we also requested a refund for the $100 application fee and she absolutely refused and would not speak anymore on the issue of a refund. From the beginning, communication was one sided. With something as important as signing a lease on a house, communication between the realtor, property owner and renters is key. Because of this failure on Lamar's part, $100 was wasted, and we are now on a month to month lease, because our move in date was set to be a few days before our current lease on our apartment ended. This has all been really stressful and an unnecessary financial burden. Especially, with it happening right before Christmas. My roommate and I have no felonies, excellent credit, work full time and have never been late on any rent payment or other bills, but because the owner did not want our ESA's and Lamar's lack of communication to us, we lost the potential to move out on time to avoid month to months fees, lost and lost $100 in applications fees. It's illegal to refuse housing to someone due to their ESA, but Lamar did not tell the home owner that. He made every effort to ensure we could not speak to the property owner directly, and I assume it's because I called his office and complained about him. Even thought we submitted the proper documents for our pets, Lamar Watson and Victoria Blass did not inform the owner that our pets were legal Emotional Support/Therapy Animals.
